It's late December 2020, and we're about to switch off for the year, but before we go, we wanted to say thank you for keeping us going.
It's been our first whole year in business, the first year of the two of us being full time. Not quite the year we'd expected would be an understatement for all of us, but it hasn't been all bad. There's Biden. Louder conversation and overdue action for Black Lives Matter. Oh, and of course the vaccine.
You made some seriously good things happen this year too.
This month we donated 41,000 meals by giving £10,000+ to FareShare UK, entirely because of you. 🍜 You shared our tiny care label so much that it was seen by tens of millions of people around the world. 🤯 Meeting so many of you via Zoom meant getting to know, and connecting to the people we’re making for. 🤓 We made 215 of you an NH-YES jacket, which meant we could give £10,000 to the Red Cross Coronavirus campaign. 💙
Closer to home.
Huw moved to London, finally no more long distance 🚂. We learnt how to take things slow. 📝 Huw’s sister just gave birth to twins. Congratulations guys! 🐣Becky got really really into quilting. 🧵We’ve all learnt a thing or two about resilience and patience. 🛀🏻 Jaimus at Greater Goods took two faulty jackets and turned them into bottle bags and tote bags for our first collaboration. We all finally got to know our neighbours this year 🏠. Our friends Jess & Jake kept spirits high and broke a Guinness world record for their virtual comedy night at ‘The Covid Arms' 😂.
And in other news.
Bookshop.org launched. Finally an alternative to Amazon. 📕 Zoom enabled long overdue catch ups with friends. 👋 Barcelona Opera House performed a concert for 2,292 plants. 🎤 We signed up to 1% for the planet, committing 1% of all future sales to environmental non-profits. 🌤 So many quizzes meant our general knowledge level was elevated from very poor to poor. 🎼 Air pollution fell 65% in some global cities, although it was brief it proved the environment can rebound quickly. 🌳
There's a lot to look forward to.
We’re working on a research project into accessibility in design. 👩🔧 Next year, Bill’s Blue will be coming back. 🟦 Oh our first women’s fit chore jacket isn’t far off coming out. 🥳 The businesses set up during these times will be the most resilient ever. 🚀 Next year will bring some new jackets and some favourites will be back too. There'll also be a few things you probably wouldn't expect from us. 🧐
