When it comes to choosing fabric, we recommend light to mid-weight woven fabrics work best, up to 8oz. The best fabrics to use would be cotton twills or denims, and you could try lighter shirting weight such as a poplin, seersucker or cotton linen blend. A reliable classic would be a mid-weight soft cotton twill, or a light dry oilskin. If you like a challenge, why not use a contrast thread like the jacket above to show off all of the intricate details?
There are nine layers to sew through during the pocket construction, so check if the fabric you choose can be accommodated by your sewing machine.
